Allied creates unique new glass bottle designs for traditional brands.

Traditional Irish whiskey brand has been revitalised with new stunning bottle design.

The revival of the Irish whiskey industry is paving the way for inspirational, unique bottle designs. Spirit producers know their bottle is the face of their brand. It must express their unique taste, style, and quality. One such inspirational brand is Gelston’s Old Irish Whiskey.

Back in 1830, Samuel Gelston founded his wine and spirits business, in Belfast. It prospered and he launched, Gelston’s Old Irish. This soon became a popular tipple. The business was purchased by Harry J Neill on Samuel’s death in 1869. Over the next 20 years, Harry grew the business. The brand became well known across Ireland, Scotland and overseas. At his death, the business was passed to his sons. Unfortunately, due to famine, war and of course prohibition, the Irish whiskey market declined steadily over the following decades. Then in 1949, the business finally came to an end.

Now, five generations later, the whiskey has been resurrected and revitalised with a stunning new bottle design. The designers have taken inspiration from the brand’s original design, iconography, and identity. It conveys the classic and premium nature of the reincarnated spirit. The bottle has been manufactured in extra white flint glass stating this is a luxury product. The design reinforces the unique branding and gives the bottle a very tactile feel. They have chosen to give the bottle a heavy book shape and liberally used bold yet intricate embossing.

Allied Glass is an independently owned premium glass bottle manufacturer which designs, develops and manufactures luxury glass packaging. The company’s aim is to be a supplier of inspirational bespoke glass packaging available to the entire spirits industry, producing beautiful glass bottles for a range of iconic international brands whilst also supporting the very smallest craft producers of whiskey and gin.
