Pilkington collaborates with Howells Patent Glazing as demand for solar control products increases

Pilkington United Kingdom Limited has signed a new contract with Howells Patent Glazing, a leading manufacturer of patent glazing roof lights and canopies, following the launch of its new solar control product, Pilkington Suncool™ One 60/40.

As the latest addition to the Pilkington Suncool™ range, Pilkington Suncool™ One 60/40 is an off-line coated, mid-range solar control product with a thermal insulation U-value of 1.0 W/m2K. It has been designed for use in commercial and high-end residential settings, to reflect heat back into the property and improve thermal efficiency. With the benefit of medium solar control helping to keep the building cooler in the summer, a comfortable indoor temperature is maintained all year round.

Gary Howells, sales director at Howells Patent Glazing said: “We have been using Pilkington products for more than 30 years now for a number of reasons. Not only are the products of a high quality, but the business is always able to meet our time-sensitive delivery dates and provides a fantastic level of customer service.

“We were really excited when they brought out the new Pilkington Suncool™ product. Solar controlled glass that lets in the maximum amount of light possible is something our customers have been calling out for. With many other products on the market, the tint needed on the glass interrupts the amount of natural light entering the building. This new addition to the Pilkington Suncool™ range resolves this issue.”

As the entry level product to the full range, Pilkington Suncool™ One combines excellent low-e properties with medium solar control performance. This makes it the ideal solution for smaller commercial projects, or those with flexible specification requirements, and in premium residential properties – for example, in bifold doors or as side wall glass in conservatories.

Joanne Marlow, national sales manager for roof products at Pilkington, added: “Having worked with Howells for more than 30 years, it’s fantastic to be able to continue providing the business with innovative products that meet today’s demands and further enhance customer relationships.

“This new product in particular is neutral in appearance and its low internal reflection helps to give a clearer external view. It Neutral in appearance, the low internal reflection also helps to give a clearer external view complements our existing range and enables us to make Pilkington Suncool™ accessible to a wider variety of end-users, while still maintaining a focus on quality and performance.”

The full Pilkington Suncool™ range includes high-performing off-line coated, solar control and low-emissivity glass products, and is designed to help to reduce the energy bills and carbon emissions of a building the whole year round.
